How it's grown
Sprayed, washed, trucked for days? Not ours. Most salad is sprayed, then washed, then spends days on a truck. Ours grows a completely different way.

Our first farm, our home base and the innovation hub where every Stacked Farm is designed and built.

Our Gold Coast farm sits in Arundel, and it's where Stacked Farm started. It's where we grow and where we build: a working vertical farm, our head office, our R&D centre, and the design-and-manufacturing hub for every farm we grow. The farm grows over 400 tonnes of leafy greens a year — around 8 tonnes every week — in a controlled indoor environment, and each harvest is run by a small team of six farm operators. It's been harvesting since early 2024, supplying fresh greens through one of Australia's largest fresh-produce wholesalers.
Sprayed, washed, trucked for days? Not ours. Most salad is sprayed, then washed, then spends days on a truck. Ours grows a completely different way.

Our greens grow indoors in a sealed, climate-controlled room, kept at a steady 17–24°C all year. No pesticides, no herbicides, no fungicides — nothing to rinse off, because nothing was ever sprayed on. We regularly have our greens independently tested by a NATA-accredited lab, against around 300 pesticides and residues. Every result comes back non-detect.

The grow is automated, from seed to bag. Our greens are grown, harvested and packed without being touched by hand, then chilled to 4°C — so what reaches you is clean and consistent, crop after crop.

Because the leaves go into the bag clean and dry, never washed, they hold up. Our tested greens stay fresh for up to 18 days refrigerated, more than twice as long as a regular bunch.

Indoors, our greens are ready in about half the time a field takes, all year round. Our closed-loop water system is built to minimise waste — across our farms we recycle around 90% of the water our plants grow in.

Australia grows most of its food beautifully outdoors. But delicate greens and herbs are the first to suffer in harsh weather and a growing country needs more of them, more reliably, every year. So we grow the crops that struggle in the paddock indoors: a steady, dependable supply, all year round.

Clean greens, grown differently. Every leaf is raised in a sealed room with no pesticides, herbicides or fungicides — then packed unwashed and undamaged, so it reaches you fresher and ready to go. From baby spinach to peppery rocket, crisp cos to everyday mixed leaf, this is salad the way it should be.
We build our own farms. Arundel isn't just where we grow, it's where we build. It's home to our design, engineering and tech teams, and it's where we design, build and manufacture our own vertical farms from the ground up. Every Stacked Farm — here, in Melbourne, and overseas — is invented and built right here. We don't buy our technology off a shelf; we create it, test it and refine it, and we never stop. There's always a next improvement in the works — a better system, a better growing recipe, a better crop. Because the more we perfect the farm, the better the greens that end up in your bag.

"R&D" can conjure up test tubes, so let's be clear: we don't make food in a lab. We grow real plants from real seeds, moved indoors and away from pests and bad weather. Our 12 controlled-environment research and development grow rooms are where our scientists and horticulturists dial in the ideal light, water, climate and nutrition for every crop — real ingredients, perfected. It's also where we trial what to grow next: new greens and herbs, always real, never synthetic.

This is the farm we've been building towards, currently under construction near Melbourne Airport, with our first harvest in 2026. Bigger, smarter and more automated than anything we've grown in before, it stacks 25,920 square metres of growing space across six grow rooms, run by a fully automated system engineered to produce around 3,200 tonnes of fresh greens a year — the equivalent of some 32 million 100g bags. Clean, consistent greens and herbs, every day of the year, no matter the weather outside.

Our greens are grown completely pesticide-free. They can't be certified organic in Australia as organic certification requires soil, and we grow hydroponically, without any. So instead of a label, we give you the proof: independent lab testing showing no detectable pesticide residues.
