In 2016, Daniel and his wife and co-founder, Liz Tzvetkoff, began experimenting with hydroponics at their home on Australia’s Gold Coast.
What started as a backyard project was also a response to a problem they had seen firsthand. Friends working in the restaurant industry struggled to source fresh greens with consistent quality throughout the year. Weather, seasonal changes and supply disruptions all had an impact on what arrived in their kitchens.
Daniel and Liz believed there had to be a better way.
Drawing on his technology background, Daniel began assembling a team of engineers, horticulturalists and plant scientists to develop an entirely new approach to growing leafy greens.

As CEO, Daniel leads the company's technology strategy, international expansion and long-term growth, working alongside the team to build a farming model that can be replicated across different markets.
In 2025, Stacked Farm was recognised by TIME and Statista as one of the World's Top GreenTech Companies, reflecting the progress of its technology and approach to resource-efficient food production.
